Newick (Away) - Division 2
Result: 1 - 2 (Lost)

Scorers: Kevern

What a difference a week can make. The reserves made sure they were firmly involved in the div 2 relegation battle with their 2nd straight league defeat and poorest performance of the season. Even more disappointing was that this followed a superb extra time win in a quarter final last week. We were poor from the outset and Newick were quick out the blocks, creating several early chances and Ellison did well in goal to keep it at 0-0. All we created was a couple of half chances from set pieces in the whole half. Ellison denied Newick with a fine double save at the start of the half but they took a deserved lead on 55 minutes although it was a poor goal to concede, a midfield runner was left completely unmarked to beat Ellison from 8 yards after a 1-2. Keane missed a 1v1 just after and Newick made it 2-0 nil on 65 mins with a well worked second goal. The caused was not helped with Campo, Mullen and Shaldoum forced off with injuries during the 2nd period but in truth we never got going until the last 10. Kevern then beat 3 players and slotted in left footed from 8 yards to give us a glimmer of hope. Newick panicked a bit and we pressed hard for the last part of the game and nearly stole a point with Baker crashing a 20 yarder against the bar with the keeper completely beaten. It was a really poor game of football in truth, but Newick wanted the points more and that showed in the result; time for us all to take a long, hard look in the mirror and get some serious training done this week. Ellison picked up the MoM for making numerous good saves throughout the game.
